The Huber Blue Coal Breaker, in Ashley, PA, has been a playground of mine from a young age. I have photographed it many times before, as seen in the
Collections gallery. Recently, on a trip home, I realized it would be torn down sooner than I would return, so went on a last trip to pay homage, on a 14 degree winter day. The photos here are some selections.
In the time between trips and this newest excursion, the breaker has had a lot taken from it, and the main connector of the two buildings, the conveyor belt, had been torn down, in preparations for the scrapping of the metal and eventual tear down.
It will be strange to not see this hulk of a structure dotting the landscape in my hometown area.
